Published: 29/08/2024

Vice president of UK, Ireland and Asia at Seaway7, Lloyd Duthie, has been appointed to lead the Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council’s Supply Chain and Clusters sub-group.

With over 35 years’ experience in the energy industry, including eight years at Seaway7, Lloyd brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise on how Scotland’s supply chain can transition to a net zero future. In recent years, Lloyd progressed the development of Beatrice Wind Farm located in the Moray Firth as EPC Director, and as region VP oversaw the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of jackets and cables on Seagreen Wind Farm off the coast of Angus.

The Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC) is leading the development and growth of Scotland’s offshore wind sector. The SOWEC Supply Chain and Clusters sub group aims to develop a Scottish offshore wind supply chain that is globally competitive, capable and has the capacity to have success in market nationally and internally. It will have the ability to drive economies of scale, productivity, competitiveness, knowledge, innovation and provide an increased capability for export and so having a thriving, successful cluster in Scotland is crucial to the growth of the sector.

Lloyd Duthie comments:
“Scotland’s offshore wind industry is the key to unlocking our clean net zero future as well as putting billions of pounds into Scotland’s economy. To help secure our supply chain and ensure readiness, we require clear visibility of the offshore wind pipeline.

“My priority is to unify the current supply chain clusters into a single, focussed cluster to help the Scottish offshore wind supply chain to maximise the opportunities that will be on offer both nationally and for export.

“We’re well positioned to progress the roadmap, and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues in the cluster to drive sustainable supply chain growth, and solidify Scotland’s leadership in the global offshore wind market.”
