SOWEC appoints new industry co-chair
The Minister for Climate Action, Dr Alasdair Allan, MSP, has appointed a new Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council industry co-chair for a two-year term.
The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has commenced market engagements to identify supply chain investment projects that may qualify for funding under the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Clean Industry Bonus (CIB) scheme.
The screening will improve OWGP’s understanding of the nature and volume of qualifying investment opportunities with the aim of strengthening the UK’s offshore wind supply chain and advancing sector growth.
In its capacity as the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan (IGP) Delivery Body, OWGP will combine and administer any IGP Delivery Body funding invested through the CfD CIB route.
Companies that are planning to undertake CIB-compliant supply chain facility projects may participate in this market screening process via OWGP’s website. Interested companies have until 31st March 2025 to register.
Separately, OWGP plans to invite business case proposals for new or upgraded UK supply chain facilities through a competitive process. Supply chain companies who do not participate in the market screening will not be at a disadvantage later.
Tim Pick, Chair of OWGP and former Offshore Wind Champion, commented:
“The UK’s offshore wind supply chain is a critical driver of our clean energy future, and targeted investment is key to its growth.
“OWGP’s efforts to identify and support CIB-compliant projects will improve visibility of investment proposals and help businesses to realise their growth ambitions.
“I strongly encourage eligible businesses to register and engage with this process.”
Companies with CIB-compliant projects may register them here: https://owgp.org.uk/register-interest-cib/
Clean Industry Bonus Allocation Framework
In order to qualify for funding, facilities must satisfy the requirements set out in the Allocation Framework.
Under paragraph 7.8 of the CIB Allocation Framework, generators may assign a share of their CIB minimum standard to be invested in the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan (IGP) Delivery Body. For CfD Allocation Round 7, OWGP will act as the IGP delivery body.
