The Scottish Offshore Wind Energy Council (SOWEC) is a partnership between the Scottish public sector and the offshore wind industry, co-chaired by Dr Alasdair Allan, Acting Minister for Climate Action, and Brian MacFarlane of SSE Renewables. Its aim is to help guide the development of offshore wind in Scotland to attain the maximum benefit for the Scottish economy.
The SOWEC Developer Group includes 25 industry members who help fund the activities of the Council. Many of these offshore wind developers have graduate programmes aimed at bringing in talent to their project development teams.
Graduate Programme intakes tend to be seasonal so while some may have stopped their 2024 intake you can still put in an expression of interest for their 2025 programme.
Many of the Graduate Programmes from our offshore wind developers will open shortly for their 2025 intake. Below is a list of the developers with links to their Careers pages for roles currently available. We have also included links to their Graduate Programmes some of which you can register with to then be informed when they go live in a few months time.
Many of these developers have an international portfolio of projects under development but the list below is made up of developers with project teams based here in Scotland for projects in our offshore wind leasing rounds such as the ScotWind and INTOG rounds.
SPR are no longer accepting applications for the 2024 Graduate Programme but their 2025 programme will open soon. You can register your interest here to receive updates about future graduate recruitment.
OW's Graduate Programme is a two year international development programme featuring challenging projects, job rotation, mentoring and coaching. Starting soon for 2025.
BlueFloat Energy have partnered with Nadara to deliver three projects in Scotland one of which also includes Orsted as a partner.
Copenhagen Offshore Partners have an accelerated 2 year Graduate Programme designed to kickstart your offshore wind career.
EDF Renewables in the UK and Ireland are offering Commercial and Engineering Graduate Schemes both of which will open in January 2025 for new entrants.
Mainstream RP are offering paid internships and graduate programmes in a number of international markets including Scotland, Ireland and the UK
SSE Renewables will be opening up their Graduate Development Programme in a few month time for their 2025 intake.
Germany utility company Energie Baden-Württemberg AG have partnered with bp to deliver offshore wind projects in the UK. EnBW have a Corporate Trainee Program for recent graduates.
Irish utility company, ESB, have a portfolio of offshore wind projects in Scotland with a number of partner companies. Applications for their 2025 Graduate Programme will open in Autumn 2024.

Northland Power are currently developing two Scotwind round projects on the North West Coast of Scotland. They also have an international portfolio of projects with opportunities to also join their oversea offices.
